BROCKWORTH OPEN DAY

Photo shows Jet Age Museum members putting the finishing touches to our full-size model of Britain's first jet, the Gloster E28/39. It will be rolled out for a public Open Day on Saturday 2 June 2007.

The event marks the centenary of the birth of Sir Frank Whittle, inventor of the jet engine - see announcement. It will be held at our Brockworth workshop, near Gloucester, where the original aircraft was designed and built and where it first left the ground on 8 April 1941, some five weeks before its official first flight.
